India Trip (Part 3)

A few of us drove bikes to visit Malampuzha dam and reservoir near Palakkad. I was sitting behind a bike to photograph the roads.  The traffic is in both directions and you can see people walking and riding cycles on the road. The houses are very close to the roads too. For foreigners it's a nightmare to drive there.

National Highway - 47 (similar to the interstates in US)

It's a very different road system than the one I'm used to. I love that last shot, the feeling of movement is awesome.

Terrific post/photos for the day! I have to agree with Al, very different system than the one here in Washington. And I, too, love the last shot with it's feeling of movement! Breathtaking! Hope you have a great week!

Great scenery and I love that bone shattering stretch of potholes. Yep, that's India all over.

the seemingly lack of road rules and regulations hits you in the face at first, but you'll get used to it :D

it's fun to watch and photograph. love the street scenes you captured.

I'm thinking it's TRUE that it's a nightmare for foreigners to drive there. :)

We had the same roads in the Philippines, narrow ones. Very different from the roads here. But they do have a charm of their own. I'm used to it, so it doesn't bother me. :)

When I was in India, there was a lot more traffic on the roads, even out in the outskirts of Rajasthan. Our driver said, "If your not honking, you're not driving" and it seemed to be true. Thank you for your posts.
